Artek

Artek, founded in Helsinki in 1935, is a renowned modern furniture brand that emerged from the collaboration of four architects: Alvar Aalto and his wife Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. The name “Artek” is a coined term that combines the words “art” and “technology,” key concepts of the burgeoning modernism movement in the 1920s. It embodies the belief that technology enhances art, resulting in refined creations, while art, in turn, can be functional and practical with the aid of technology.
Drawing inspiration from Finland’s abundant materials and the design sensibilities of the Nordic region, Artek has become a globally recognized representative of modern furniture. In recent years, the company has collaborated with leading designers such as Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec from France, offering furniture and lighting that preserve tradition while exuding a distinctive presence.
