Knoll

Hans Knoll, the son of Walter Knoll and a native of Germany, founded the furniture brand Knoll in New York in 1938. Hans Knoll’s wife and designer, Florence Knoll, also played a key role in the management of Knoll, contributing to the growth of the business. Knoll is considered a part of the history of the modern design movement and has established an international reputation as a leading furniture brand representing Mid-Century Modern design. Among their iconic works are masterpieces that have had a significant impact on 20th-century design, such as Mies van der Rohe’s “Barcelona Chair” and Eero Saarinen’s “Tulip Chair.” Knoll’s furniture, often described as “usable art,” combines beauty and comfort, creating modern yet inviting spaces for various settings within the home.
