String Furniture

String Furniture, based in Malmö, the southernmost city in Sweden, is a renowned furniture brand. String®, created by Swedish architect Nils Strinning, is a modular shelving system that is beloved worldwide as an emblem of Nordic design.
In 1949, the prominent Swedish publishing house Bonnier organized a competition for a flexible and versatile bookshelf that was affordable and easy to ship and assemble. Nils Strinning, along with his wife Kajsa Strinning, participated and won the first prize. Subsequently, Kajsa and Nils refined the String system to perfection, transforming it into furniture that excelled not only in aesthetics but also in functionality. They established a storage system that could be endlessly expanded and improved, transcending time.
In addition to the iconic modular shelving system String®, String Furniture offers a range of interior products that combine beauty and functionality to suit various applications and personal preferences. This includes Works™, an office furniture series designed based on ergonomics, and Museum™, a console shelf conceived during the renovation of the Swedish National Museum. These products cater to residential, office, and commercial spaces, providing elegant and functional solutions.
String®, the modular furniture system that allows free combination of parts, offers versatility not only for living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens but also for offices and public spaces, adapting flexibly to different environments.
