USM

The origins of USM Modular Furniture can be traced back to 1885 when Ulrich Schärer established a metalworking company in Switzerland. Paul Schärer, the grandson of Ulrich Schärer, collaborated with Swiss architect Fritz Haller to develop “USM Haller” in 1963, a furniture system composed of modular components. USM Haller, based on the concept of “furniture for a lifetime companion,” allows for the rearrangement of colors and forms to adapt to new lifestyles. USM Modular Furniture obtained a patent in 1965 and became part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2001. In 2007, it achieved the distinction of being the first European product to receive GREENGUARD certification for its environmentally conscious manufacturing practices.
